Foundations
Bhagirath Choudhary was born on 1 June 1954 in Manpura, in Ajmer district. His father was Ramchandra Choudhary and his mother Dakha Devi; both are recorded as late in his Lok Sabha biography.
He was born in Ajmer State, which from 1950 was a separate Part C State of the Indian Union, formed from the former British province of Ajmer-Merwara. Under the States Reorganisation Act, 1956, Ajmer was merged into Rajasthan on 1 November 1956, when he was two years old.
His family home, and his permanent address today, is in the Kishangarh area of the district — a region of rain-fed farming, with bajra, jowar and guar sown in the kharif season and wheat, mustard and gram in the rabi.

Education
Two official sources describe his education, and they agree once read together.
His sworn election affidavits — filed with the Election Commission of India for the 2019 and 2024 Lok Sabha elections and the 2023 Rajasthan Assembly election — give his highest completed qualification as Higher Secondary (Class 12), passed in 1972 from the Board of Secondary Education, Rajasthan, at Ajmer.
His Lok Sabha biography adds that he went on to a degree course at the University of Rajasthan, Jaipur, recording his education as "B.A., Second Year Pass". In other words, he completed two years of an undergraduate arts degree but not the degree itself.

Early public life
His profession is recorded as agriculturist and horticulturist, and his public role first appears in the record through community organisations. The Lok Sabha biography lists him as President of the Jat Mahasabha, Ajmer District, 1998–2007, and Vice-President of the State Jat Mahasabha, 2001–2006.
