Farm incomes and income support

How much farm households earn, and how the Union Government supplements it.

Background
Most Indian farm households cultivate small holdings. The last all-India survey (NSS 77th round, 2018-19) put the average monthly income of an agricultural household at ₹10,218. Since February 2019, PM-KISAN has paid eligible landholding families ₹6,000 a year.
Documented action
As MP he asked about PM-KISAN instalments and beneficiaries in Rajasthan in 2019 and 2020, and about the target of doubling farmers' income in 2024. As Minister of State he answered for the Government on PM-KISAN and on farm household incomes.

Natural and organic farming

Reducing chemical inputs through natural farming clusters and organic certification.

Background
The National Mission on Natural Farming was approved by the Union Cabinet on 25 November 2024. The Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana supports organic farming with ₹31,500 per hectare over three years.
Documented action
He asked about natural farming in the Lok Sabha in August 2023. As Minister he answered on natural and organic farming in December 2024 and March 2026, stating in the latter that there was no plan for separate government purchase of organically produced foodgrains.

Drinking water and water bodies

Safe drinking water in a water-scarce State, and protecting tanks and lakes.

Background
Farming and drinking water in central Rajasthan depend heavily on groundwater. In Ajmer district, the Central Ground Water Board classifies seven of nine blocks as over-exploited.
Documented action
As MP he asked a series of questions on the National Rural Drinking Water Programme (2019, 2021), on encroachment of water bodies (2021) and on inter-linking of rivers (2021). From September 2019 he was a member of the Standing Committee on Water Resources.

Irrigation

Solar pumps and micro irrigation

Making scarce water go further on the farm.

Background
Only about half of Rajasthan's net sown area is irrigated. Drip and sprinkler systems are subsidised under Per Drop More Crop; solar pumps under PM-KUSUM, a scheme of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy.
Documented action
His first question in the Lok Sabha, in July 2019, concerned subsidy for solar irrigation. He later asked about irrigation and drought management (2022) and PM-KUSUM beneficiaries (2022). As Minister he answered on micro irrigation and Per Drop More Crop in March 2026.

Food security

Foodgrain allocation and distribution

Getting grain from procurement to ration cards.

Background
Grain procured at MSP supplies the public distribution system under the National Food Security Act. One Nation One Ration Card allows beneficiaries to draw rations anywhere in the country.
Documented action
He asked about One Nation One Ration Card (2021), distribution of foodgrains (2022) and allocation of foodgrains to Rajasthan (2023). As Minister he laid eleven years of procurement data before the House in March 2026.

Rural housing and employment guarantee

PMAY-Gramin houses and MGNREGS works in villages.

Background
The Ministry of Rural Development runs Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Gramin (rural housing) and the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme. Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the Cabinet Minister for Agriculture, also holds Rural Development.
Documented action
As MP he asked a starred question on development works under MGNREGS (2021), and questions on PMAY-G beneficiary criteria (2022) and pending applications (2023).

Mandis, e-NAM and farmer producer organisations

Better price discovery for farm produce.

Background
e-NAM links regulated mandis on one electronic platform. Farmer Producer Organisations let small farmers buy inputs and sell produce collectively.
Documented action
As Minister he answered on APMC markets integrated with e-NAM (December 2024), on the e-NAM platform and on the functioning of FPOs (both March 2026).

Rail, road and air links for Ajmer

Connectivity for Ajmer, Kishangarh and Pushkar.

Background
Ajmer lies on the Delhi–Mumbai rail and road corridors; Kishangarh has an airport. New lines and road upgrades are sanctioned by the Ministries of Railways and Road Transport.
Documented action
As MP he asked about a new Ajmer–Tonk railway line (starred question, 2021), the Pushkar–Merta line, facilities at Kishangarh station, road over-bridges in Ajmer, the Kishangarh–Gulabpura highway and flights from Kishangarh Airport.

Background
The Digital Agriculture Mission (₹2,817 crore, approved 2 September 2024) is building a registry of farmers and a digital crop survey; Namo Drone Didi supplies drones to women's self-help groups.
Documented action
As MP he asked about subsidy for farmers using drones (February 2024). As Minister he answered on the objectives of the Digital Agriculture Mission (December 2024) and launched the Krishi-Decision Support System (August 2024).

Pollution, wasteland and climate

Environmental questions for a semi-arid region.

Background
Desertification, air quality and a changing climate all bear on farming in Rajasthan. ICAR's NICRA programme develops climate-resilient practices.
Documented action
As MP he asked about funds for air pollution (2022), a proposal for sewage-water use and sand-dune stabilisation (2022), and the Waste Land Development Board (2022). As Minister he answered more than fifteen questions on climate change and resilient crop varieties.

Background
Skill India's Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana trains young people for jobs; minimum wages and labour welfare fall under the Ministry of Labour and Employment.
